The difference that doesn't show in a screenshot

On a listing page, a static template and an interactive one can look identical — the same clean tabs, the same pretty cover. The gap shows up the moment you actually use it. A static file is a layout: you type numbers, and you're on your own for whether the totals are right. An interactive template has live formulas — enter an expense and your profit, tax-to-set-aside, and dashboard update instantly, correctly, every time.

Why "the math is right" is the whole point

A spreadsheet exists to do arithmetic you'd rather not do by hand. If a formula is wrong, a beautiful template is worse than none — it gives you a confident wrong number. That's why we recompute every workbook's formulas in code and check them against hand-worked expected values, including edge cases, before a product ships. A picture of a dashboard proves nothing; a tested formula does.

Here's the specific worry that made me build ToolWise the way I did — and it's why I care about this distinction more than most. A spreadsheet's whole job is to get the math right. A template that looks polished but has one wrong formula is worse than no template, because it hands you a confident wrong number you won't think to question.

So before any workbook I sell goes live, I run its formulas through a calculation engine in code and check every result against numbers I've worked out by hand — edge cases included. I don't trust a visual once-over (the office software I'd use to eyeball it can't even recalc these files reliably in my setup), so I trust the recomputed number instead. That's what "interactive" actually buys you here: not animation for its own sake, but a calculation that's been proven correct and that you can watch update as you type. It's the one promise I'm not willing to fake.
