What "time and a half" means

Time-and-a-half means 1.5× your normal hourly rate. So a $20/hour rate becomes $30/hour for overtime. Double time (2×) — $40/hour here — is used by some employers for holidays or hours beyond a second threshold, but it isn't required by US federal law.

Time-and-a-half rate = hourly rate × 1.5
